so in the manga it goes from ichigo's fight with aizen to the fullbringer arc. Where he gradually lost his powers until he became a normal human.

in the anime however, the added this arc where he is still losing his powers but now, he needs to fight a new bad guy. After that he loses his powers in the fullbringer arc.

hopefully that helped. im trying to not spoil a lot of stuff. If anything, think of the current arc as something that happens before the fullbringer arc. They do change a minor detail in the fullbringer arc as a result.
